Australian Space Agency

In 2024, we partnered with Studio Gilay to produce a short film for the Australian Space Agency. The purpose of the film was to showcase Australia’s growing space industry while also acknowledging First Nation people’s long-held cultural connections with the sky and stars.

Led by our in-house production team, we managed talent and location scouting, developed storyboards and creative briefs, and managed all production logistics in bringing the creative vision to life. Footage for the film was shot on Wiradjuri country (Wagga Wagga), Gadigal country (inner Sydney) and Karuna country (Adelaide). While in Adelaide, the crew captures footage at several Australian space industry facilities.

Animations featured in the film were created by Studio Gilay, emerging from the artwork ‘Maal’ by Gomeroi and Mandandandji man, Jake Duczynski. In Gomeroi language, ‘Maal’ means ‘One’, reflecting the cultural philosophy of interconnectedness between land, sky, time and all living things.

The film was displayed daily at the entrance to the Australian Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan, and was also shown publicly at various ASA conferences throughout the year.
