Dynamic conference for hundreds of DFAT humanitarian volunteers

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Returned Australian Volunteer Network conference

Overview

The Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade contracted 33 Creative to produce its inaugural Returned Australian Volunteer Network conference, held at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.

The conference was intended to be a forum for Australia’s vast ranks of aid volunteers to re-connect, find new ways to use their volunteering experience and get guidance on social entrepreneurship.

Approach

Our team worked with a range of stakeholders and a DFAT working group to develop an innovative and engaging program with a strong line-up of dynamic and thought-provoking speakers. We handled bookings, briefings, travel and accommodation for all speakers and talent.

Our team also managed and produced the conference and expo, including conference registrations (involving project management of the system build and maintenance), catering, venue logistics, technical and audiovisual requirements, and ensuring delegates’ needs were met particularly those with vision and hearing disabilities.

Our team worked with DFAT to advise on marketing and communications, manage post-conference reporting, and conduct all conference finances including collecting registration monies on behalf of the Commonwealth and acquitting funds.
